Srinagar, May 19 (KNO): Another unidentified militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter at Nawa Kadal area of downtown Srinagar taking the number of militants killed in the ongoing operation to two, police said. Three CRPF men including an officer sustained splinter injured after the last surviving militant hurled grenade at the forces during the final assault, IG CRPF Srinagar sector  R Pandey told KNO Talking exclusively to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Inspector General of Police Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar said that one more militant has been killed and the operation is on. “In total, two militants have been killed and both belong to Hizbul Mujahideen. Arms and ammunition has been recovered. Search operation is on,” he said. Police sources earlier said that a CRPF man and a JK police man sustained injuries in the initial exchange of gunfire that broke out at around 2 am. There had been a complete lull from 2:30 am to 9 am. “Contact was established again with the militants at 9 am again,” police sources told KNO. A residential structure has also been damaged in the exchange of firing between militants and the government forces. This is the first encounter post Abrogation of Article 370 on August 5 last year in the summer capital Srinagar. Police sources said that final assault was launched at 1 o clock which lasted for about an hour and around at 2 pm, second militant was also killed—(KNO)
